Synthesizing images through a process of accretion, Sofía Sinibaldi combines direct photography and scans to create a multiplicity of interrelated forms. Printed on tissue paper, they exist as a fragile, membrane-like material that gives body to her digital images, which she manually layers, turns, and reconfigures. Her imperfect process of scanning objects, architecture and her surroundings prompts the loss of information created by the impossibility of a perfect union between surfaces. Inevitable tears, folds, traces of emulsion, and creases become another example of mark-making that further reveals the wear of her hands-on method of mixing imagery.

Drawing from everyday encounters, she elicits the interconnectivity of objects and motifs that exist within her surroundings. Sinibaldi invites viewers to bring their own associations to her deconstructed montages, which continually oscillate between legibility and abstraction.
